“Who knows what wild adventures the next show will deliver” - The Plus Ones (2016)
Five improvisers, five themes and one Gorilla – an extraordinary night of improvisation.
The struggle for directors to attain their vision is at the heart of Gorilla Theatre™ and makes it unlike any other improvisation show in Melbourne.
Five improvisers take to the stage with themes they want to explore. Succeed, and the audience rewards them with a Banana. Fail in their role as director, the audience punishes them with a Forfeit. Players might have to 'call their Mother and apologise for being a bad director' or ‘do a Shakespeare monologue on your failure’.
Ultimately the improvisers must create theatre that wins the audience over, or suffer the consequences.
Devised by Keith Johnstone, creator of Theatresports™, and directed by Patti Stiles, Gorilla Theatre™ encourages the performers to invent scenes that thrill, amuse and provoke, and yes …. there is a Gorilla as part of the action.
Let us warm your winter Sundays with improvisation that is electrifying, impulsive and unforgettable.
