Although Tie of the Tiger had the week off, it was all about ties in this week’s Theatresports™. After a tie for 3rd place between Sky Tiger and Suspenders of Disbelief, the show ended with a tie for the win between Citizen Wayne and The Upper Somerton Aesthetic Society! But the boys of Citizen Wayne did it again—wearing ties!
Despite all the amazing highs of this week’s show (and there were many), which were bolstered in their energy by a sold-out audience of over a hundred spectators (we brought in extra chairs!), many spectators left the venue talking about the very first scene from Super Mega Awesome Impro Based Theatre Team That Is Good: a song by our special guest for the evening, Sarah-Louise Young, who was visiting us all the way from London, England!
Her song was based on a piece of motherly advice offered by the audience: “Always wear your sweater!” By the end of the tune, she had admitted to making her favourite sweater out of her fuzzy childhood friend, Thumper. But beyond the hilarious subject matter, the song was wonderful and captivating from beginning to end, delivered by Sarah-Louise’s powerful voice, honed by years of improvised musicals with London impro company The Showstoppers. A rare treat, and one of the night’s highest scoring scenes—in the very first round!
