Impro Melbourne continues to bring you the best in improvisation. Our workshops are all about freeing one’s creative spirit in a positive and safe environment. Our 2016 workshops are now on sale.
Our ever-popular Spontaneity workshops are being run by Amy Moule (Tuesdays) and Katherine Weaver (Wednesdays). Jenny Lovell is also running a Spontaneity Weekend Intensive from March 12, in a format taught over two weekends. This is a great option for people who are busy on weeknights or who want to get through the course material as quickly as possible. Spontaneity is an introduction to the building blocks of improvisation through theory, language and skills. Fearlessness, creativity, collaboration and fun – demand is always high for these classes so it’s a good idea to book as early as possible.
Sarah Kinsella will be hosting our Narrative Technique workshops in 2016 – building on the foundations of Spontaneity, this class looks at how to identify the elements of a story and use them as inventive and satisfying tools.
Character workshops will be running on Wednesday nights, lead by Tim Redmond. This class assumes basic improvisation skills, and is all about exploring techniques of characterisation in order to create clever and inventive stories.
In Performance Series with Patti Stiles (Impro Melbourne co-Artistic Director), students will have the opportunity to work with the same ensemble for a longer period of time on a set improvised project. You’ll get an opportunity to dive deeper into performance skills and various aspects of improvisational formats through this in-depth curriculum.
