I want Songs!

with Brenna Dixon

In every great musical, there's an "I Want" song—the moment where a character reveals their deepest desire. In this workshop, you'll learn how to improvise compelling "I Want" songs from scratch.

We'll explore storytelling, emotional commitment, and musical phrasing to create songs that drive a scene forward and connect with the audience. You'll discover how to tap into your character's motivations, find strong emotional stakes, and deliver a song that feels authentic, spontaneous, and powerful.

Prerequisites: Impro Melbourne’s Spontaneity , Narrative, Character, and Scenework course and a beginner's Songprov course or equivalent impro experience as determined by the Artistic Director.
