The Rookies are Impro Melbourne's apprentice company. Rookies train and perform with Impro Melbourne and are committed to developing their improvisation skills and share Impro Melbourne's creative goals. 

What does Impro Melbourne offer Rookies?
As part of the Rookies program we offer; 

• Focused Rookie training
• Whole company training with Ensemble players
• Mentorship for personal guidance and feedback
• Performance opportunities in Rookie Showcase season (4-9 shows).
• Casting consideration for other Impro Melbourne shows
• Reduced cost of training
• Special training events with guest local, national, and international teachers (free or at a significant discount)
• Free tickets to all Impro Melbourne shows

What does Impro Melbourne expect from Rookies?
Training: 2 hours on Monday evenings, usually 7-9pm.
Performances: Typically on Sat nights, with some variation based on specific shows. When performing it is mandatory to help with set ups and bump in/outs.
Costs: The Rookie program costs $100 a term. ($400 for the year)

 

Rookies are expected to;

• Commit to the pursuit of excellence in the craft of improvisation
• Engage in training, rehearsals, and performances
• Support Impro Melbourne's activities through off-stage duties, volunteer positions, and promotion
• Strive for continual self-improvement in improvisation skills and performance
• Respect and value the contributions of Impro Melbourne staff, committee, and players
• Actively participate in achieving Impro Melbourne's mission statement and company goals both on and off stage

Tryout Process-

We are, unfortunately, not able to offer an place in our tryouts to every applicant. An email will be sent to every applicant regarding the success of their application by Wed 10th January. 
Once Tryout applications have been received, successful applicants will be invited to attend a tryout session on Sunday 14th January, for 2 hours between 11am and 4pm. 

This session will be a fun, structured jam which will give you an opportunity to play with current company members and for us to get to know you.
